Circadian Wilds

"In a future when planet Earth has been rendered an uninhabitable wasteland by climate change and nuclear warfare, humanity has been forced to abandon the surface and retreat to space stations orbiting their dead planet. When the prolonged time in space begins to take its toll on the human body, the Solarian Corporation begins to sponsor scientists to genetically modify the human genome to survive (and work) better in space.
The player acts a member of a small team of scientists hired to explore the uniquely resilient planet of Circadia. Originally dispatched to uncover Circadia's secrets for Solarian profit, the team is quickly left stranded by their surroundings. Trapped on a planet where every living organism is connected to a fungal alien hive mind hell-bent on destroying you and your technology, you have only one option left; to put your own experimental research into action and become part of Circadia. That is, if you can manage not to lose yourself in the process…”

Circadian Wilds is a visual development project that provides a snapshot into the design and gameplay of a science-fiction exploration game. My thesis work is centered around the botanist character, Phoebe Himura; half of the project is formatted as an alien field-journal, and the other half is vis dev work with an environment focus.

(I plan to expand this Circadian Wilds into either graphic novel form, or a visual-novel style game. Follow me on social media for any future updates!)
